    Girard-Perregaux Laureato

When it was launched in 1975, the inaugural watch was called the “Quartz Chronometer”. However, in Italy, Girard-Perregaux’s most important market at the time, the model quickly became known among connoisseurs as “il laureato (Laureato in Italian)”. This affectionate name served as recognition of the model’s award-winning success and extraordinary precision. Coincidentally, the octagonal bezel sits atop the case, like a laurel wreath sits on the head of a victor. Primarily aesthetic, the bezel is a luxurious detail that contributes to the model’s distinctive look. The case, along with its integrated bracelet, provides impressive levels of comfort to the wearer. When viewed across a room, the Laureato is instantly recognisable yet suitable for all occasions.

As a company synonymous with fine watchmaking, it should come as no surprise to learn that the self-winding movement, caliber GP01800, is adorned with a myriad of fine details. The main plate is embellished with circular graining, while some components feature bevelling, mirror polishing, satin finishing, snailing, sunray finishing, and various engravings. The bridges are decorated with straight Côtes de Genève, and the rhodium-plated oscillating weight is embellished with circular Côtes de Genève. Finally, the movement has a power reserve of at least 54 hours.
