Montblanc Roller Great Characters Enzo Ferrari Special Edition Modena Yellow
The name Ferrari is synonymous with refined design, powerful engines, continuous technical innovation, and one of the most influential figures in the history of motorsport. With a boundless vision and an unrelenting passion for racing, Enzo Ferrari led his company to unparalleled prestige, creating an enduring legend. Montblanc has dedicated the Montblanc Great Characters Enzo Ferrari Special Edition to this remarkable man and his love for the sport.
Taking inspiration from both the coat of arms of Enzo Ferrari’s hometown – Modena – and the iconic yellow tone of the Scuderia’s logo, this edition celebrates Ferrari’s “second soul”: yellow. The cone of the pen is engraved with the dates of Enzo Ferrari’s birth and his first race victory, while the top of the cap bears his signature and the name of his father’s workshop, Officina Meccanica Alfredo Ferrari, a tribute to his origins.
It is adorned with the Montblanc emblem in precious blue resin, another nod to Modena’s coat of arms, and features intricate metalwork evoking the grille of a vintage car. Enzo Ferrari’s first racing victory at the Circuito del Savio was also a key moment in the birth of the now-iconic Ferrari logo. Among the spectators that day was the family of Italian WWI aviation ace Francesco Baracca, who had served in the same unit as Enzo’s brother, Dino. Baracca’s mother, Countess Paolina Biancoli, suggested that Enzo use her son’s emblem—the prancing horse from his aircraft—as a good luck charm on his race cars. Associated with courage and dominance, the horse was the perfect symbol for Enzo.
Nine years later, the Cavallino Rampante appeared for the first time on a yellow background, decorating a race car. It was 1932 at the 24 Hours of Spa, where Ferrari's team finished first and second with cars bearing the emblem. The cap of the Montblanc Great Characters Enzo Ferrari Special Edition features the Cavallino Rampante engraving, alongside the Countess’s words: "Le porterà fortuna" ("It will bring you luck").
The first car manufactured by Ferrari, the 125 S with its twelve-cylinder engine, left the Maranello plant on March 12, 1947. Twelve engraved lines on the pen symbolize those twelve cylinders. Enzo Ferrari’s motto, "You cannot describe passion, you can only live it", is inscribed on the ruthenium-coated clip.
