Omega Speedmaster “Silver Snoopy Award”
This 50th Anniversary timepiece pays tribute to the “Silver Snoopy Award,” an honor bestowed upon OMEGA by NASA astronauts in 1970 in recognition of the brand’s contributions to space exploration, including the Apollo 13 mission.
The 42-mm stainless steel case is paired with a blue nylon strap, which features the Apollo 13 mission trajectory embossed on the inside. The silver dial features angled blue PVD hands and hour markers, as well as an embossed silver medallion depicting Snoopy on the blue sub-dial at 9 o’clock.
The dark side of the Moon is depicted on the NAIAD LOCK sapphire crystal case back using a microstructured metallization technique. Snoopy appears inside his Command and Service Module (CMS) on a magic hand that rotates when the chronograph function is active. In the background, a disc depicting the Earth rotates once per minute, synchronized with the watch’s small seconds hand.
In addition to the black engravings on the case back, paying homage to Apollo 13 and OMEGA’s “Silver Snoopy Award,” the model also features a blue ceramic [ZrO2] bezel ring with a white enamel tachymeter scale. This non-limited-edition watch is powered by the Co-Axial Master Chronometer caliber 3861 and is presented in a special box.
