When Breitling first introduced it in 1957, it stood out radically from other diving watches of the time. The Ref. 1004 (a refined time-only model) and the Ref. 807 (the world's first chronograph dedicated to diving) did not just explore the underwater world, but also concerned themselves with aesthetics. With its hands resembling the shapes of a spear and arrow, anodized revolving bezel, and naturally elegant proportions, the watch soon became a favorite among the finest adventurers, who loved the sea but also worldliness. Today, this philosophy is still at the core of the Superocean Heritage identity. It maintains the authentic soul of the years ’50 while being designed for the present. The latest Superocean Heritage picks up on everything that made the original model distinctive, and renews it. The ceramic inlaid bezel offers exceptional scratch resistance, while the metal or rubber mesh straps fit snugly into the case, with a deployant buckle for clean aesthetics and waterproofing. A refined window calendar at 6 o'clock and the original hands (arrow for hours, spear for minutes) ensure legibility and balance, both above and below the surface of the water.
