Performance and style for all water activities. In the ʽ60s, the new sport of scuba diving was all the rage. For divers, timekeeping was essential, and Breitling was committed to providing them with the most accurate dive watch possible, eliminating any features that did not support life-saving underwater needs. This simplified watch was called Slow Motion. The clean lines, solid luminescent hour markers, square hands and a strongly contrasting dial ring remained-all in the service of maximum readability. Practical? Yes. But what people fell in love with was the look. The new Superocean retraces the design codes celebrated by the Slow Motion, adding modern features such as a ceramic inlaid bezel and brightly colored dials. Large Super-LumiNova® luminescent hands and indices allow for easy readability underwater. The watch is water resistant to 300 m (1000 ft) as well as resistant to shocks, sand and salt water. The bronze version uses a special alloy that is highly resistant to corrosion, but over time continues to develop a thin patina that makes the watch even more unique. The two strap options (rubber and metal bracelet) feature a deployment clasp for minimal adjustments up to 15 mm, for easy wear over tight-fitting vests or wetsuits. The inlaid ceramic, scratch-resistant bezel will never wear or fade. For safety, the bezel is unidirectional in most sizes and bidirectional with a patented clasp in the 46 mm model. But the best part is that it is no longer strictly speaking just a dive watch-it is suitable for surfing, swimming, impressing at the beach bar or showing off at dinner. The Superocean balances the nostalgia of its heritage and a fresh new look to perfection.
