Grand Seiko Heritage Mechanical Limited European Edition
A Grand Seiko watch inspired by the Nishikigoi, the Japanese iridescent carp, which swim in traditional ponds Japanese gardens are a prime example of this country's innate aesthetic of incorporating the beauty of nature into everyday life, bringing the ever-changing seasons closer together. The Nishikigoi, or Japanese iridescent carp, inspires the latest limited-edition Grand Seiko European watch: a key natural element in the pond required by a unique style of Chisen Teien aka Japanese pond garden. The relaxing practice of watching ornamental carp in the Chisen Teien began in the 9th century as an aristocratic pastime in Japan, and their attractive company has been welcomed ever since. Today, iridescent carp are very popular all over the world, being appreciated as “swimming jewels.” The color combination of the SBGW321 represents a Nishikigoi: black strap, bright red dial in a silver-colored stainless steel case with gold accents for the logo and second hand. The dial's radial spiral pattern, extending from the center outward, evokes the shimmering scales of a carp reflected in sunlight on the pond.
